Diamond Head

Diamond Head. A place every tourist to the island of Oahu must visit on their trip. Checked that one off of the list! Just east of Waikiki, Diamond Head is a dormant volcano. The giant tuff cone that lines to old volcano is, for sure, something to see.
The 3/4 mile hike up the mountain takes you past several lookout spots, old World War II bunkers, and an observation platform from 1908. You can't forget about the 74 stairs, the giant dark tunnel through the hill, 99 more stairs, and 30 stairs in a spiral staircase.
Once at the top, you can see all over the island. So pretty. Sets of waves rolling in, lighthouses, the crater, neighboring mountains, Waikiki, downtown Honolulu and much more. I didn't think the hike itself was that bad at all. Pretty easy, actually. Some people have a tough time with the hike just because it's always about 85 degrees and sunny when you're walking uphill.
Have you ever hiked Diamond Head? If so, how was your experience? If you haven't seen the top of this old volcano, go do it!
