I had read through the listings of Maryland historical buildings before I left for this trip hoping to remember their locations while driving. I knew that I was close this church that I had read about earlier while driving through Marion, MD but wasn't exactly sure what I was looking for. Then, WHAM!, all of a sudden, it practically hit me in the face!
This beautiful giant building is the Marion Baptist Church, built in 1925, organized in 1896.
Here is a picture of the church in October of 1984 from the historical society.
The architecture of this building was phenomenal. Not like anything I was expecting to see in this area. It towered above all other buildings and was practically in the middle-of-nowhere.
Traditional architecture in the boondocks of Maryland farm country! I love living here.
