Beachin'

The Spring season is upon us, for sure. Winter defeat officially occurred today as I put on my swimsuit and laid on the beach... Hoorah! 80 degrees and not a cloud in the sky.
I was only able to lay around for a short hour before getting back to business. I spent a few hours this morning doing work-related things, swung by the skate park to see the awesome renovations underway, hit the beach, went for a run, and got back to 'work'. By 'work' I mean the laundry, dishes, baking, and gardening that needed to be done at my house. I accomplished a lot today and am hoping to have more busy days like this in the near future.

Another sign that it's springtime. The flowers are open and stretching towards the sun...
Aren't those crazy, curly ferns awesome? I noticed them while walking through Lancaster last weekend and then discoved that there are some sprouting in the nature preserve down the street from my house. Great discovery while walking the dog today. I love them. They're very peculiar.
Took Sandi for a swim today. She loves running in the wetlands, especially when it's hot outside.

Also, Dr. Roman Jesien, biologist for the Maryland Coastal Bays Program told me that the jellyfish I spotted while kayaking yesterday is an arctic Lion's Mane jellyfish... just in case you were wondering. Apparently these invertebrates like cold waters (like in the arctic) and can grow up to 7 feet in length! Can you imagine? This fish was about 3 feet long. Another interesting fact? They only live to be 1 year old! Glad that I caught a glimpse of this one yesterday!
Hope you ventured outside today and enjoyed the sunshine... or at least opened all of your windows and let the salty air seep inside! Catch 'ya'll later!
